Punch the Sun!

Today Chris and I have been married for six months! And some how I still haven't found a home for some of his stuff, hahah.

But no seriously, wow! I am very very lucky to have found him. To get to experience love in this degree. To have the luxury of such confidence and safety. It's something I wish for all of you to experience. I see friends celebrating huge milestone anniversaries, and can only imagine the things we will have experienced in that time.

Friday the 13th!

Chris' birthday kicked my ass. I'm not particularly certain why. It's not like our plans were extremely physical or anything. I've been paying the price regardless though. I've been fighting major fatigue all week, and pep talking myself into doing anything beyond basic chores.

Yesterday I spent some time working on one of my closets. I have some bags of stuff in it that Chris brought with when he moved in that I still haven't found a home for. One of them was all paperwork; which I spent yesterday sorting between our important papers tub and keepsake box. The other is all electronics and cords. It's been my looming project of the day today, which I've only slightly dented. I've been working really hard on getting our entire home organized and free of unnecessary clutter.

Last night I made grilled chipolte chicken and swiss cheese sandwiches for dinner and we watched The 5th Wave. It was actually a really good movie. We stayed up way too late watching it. It's one of those movies that makes you think.

Chris' Birthday - 2016

Yesterday was my husband's birthday!

Holidays are a big deal to me. I need very little reason to celebrate with those I love. And a celebration all about the man I love most? I mean c'mon.

Monday afternoon I spent getting some cards ready to mail and getting my husband's birthday card ready. I don't know how to just give a plain card. It's so impersonal.

So I broke out my sticker box and got to it. Chris thought the stickers I put in his birthday card were actually part of the card! Haha, I thought that was sweet. A card I was sending to a particular friend of mine is a long over due Christmas card. The post office has failed me twice now on this. It better not fail me again. I had trouble getting a card to another person too. Different states for each of them.

I still have a few more cards to make and send out, but I felt productive nonetheless.

Happy Mother's Day!

Chris and I stayed up until almost 5am this morning. We got up around lunch time and ran up to Hamburg to take care of some errands. Our first stop was the pet store whereupon entering I was greeted immediately by swarms of squirmy puppies up for adoption. I wanted to herd them all into our car. I resisted though.

My Uncle Keith stopped by with a birthday card for Chris. It was really cute and funny. Drop a guess in the comments as to what the inside says!

Chris changed the oil in the car with my Pop when we got home, and I struggled to stay awake. I've been ridiculously tired all day. I'm fighting sleep just trying to write this blog. I'm trying not to give in and nap in hopes that I'll be able to sleep decently tonight. We'll see.

Static

Things are really rough for me right now. My doctors have me tapering down off of steroids so they can see what symptoms all flare up exactly. They're hoping to figure out if I possibly have systemic vasculitis, and how to treat me well enough that I don't need steroids to function. While they're great for calming down a messed up immune system; steroids are really bad for you and come with a myriad of side effects such as thinning bones, muscle wasting, organ damage, and weight gain.

I dropped to 10mgs, my lowest tolerance on Monday, and by Wednesday I could feel everything start to flare up. My entire existence hurts. I emailed my doctor and let her know that things were flaring up already and she messaged me back that she put in a standing lab order to evaluate my inflammation markers that she'd like me to get done weekly before our Monday follow-ups on my taper. I got it done today in hopes that she'd have it in time for our appointment Monday morning. Within a few hours she emailed me, lab results were back already. My inflammation markers almost doubled within a few days. Higher than they've tested in months. I expressed that not only was I not kidding about feeling like shit already, but that I was quite serious about not being able to get under 10mgs of Prednisone. While she said she didn't doubt me (she yells at me for under exaggerating), having the frequent labs to track the process for Jefferson makes it even better.

Frozen Yogurt

Chris took me out last night to Sheetz so I could meet Kristen and get a sundae. I was super excited.

There's a billion different flavor options. I taste tested a few and decided to go with the peanut butter cookie dough frozen yogurt. The grape ape ice cream flavor was really good too. I smothered mine in toppings and got to chat with Kristen for a little bit. I shared it with Chris on the way home. I had a bit of a derp moment mid-conversation with Kristen, but thankfully she was patient. I've been losing track of my conversations really bad lately. I'll be mid sentence or thought, and all of the sudden -- Poof! It's super frustrating, especially if someone doesn't understand. Chris is good at usually getting me back on track.

...Not a Creature Was Stirring...

This time of year with all the hustle and bustle of the holidays it's easy to put yourself on the back burner. While for the average person a few days of over doing it generally isn't the end of the world, not every one's that lucky. Please keep an eye on those you love this time of year and make sure they're still taking proper care of themselves. Almost losing my Pop the other night was terrifying. Hell, I'm even guilty myself. Most days lately I finally take the time to eat a meal around ten at night.

Chris had to order my Christmas presents online. He got me Cards Against Humanity and Exploding Kittens. I've been wanting some more games for our game collection. I'm hoping his next paycheck we can afford to get the bookcase I've been eyeing up for our game room. We're in desperate need of the shelf space with the new game system and new games.

Ceiling of Hell

I made breakfast for dinner last night. It was really good. Bacon, corned beef hash, fried potatoes, dippy eggs, and toast. Neither of us could eat it all. I saw a recipe floating around for tater tot waffles I want to give a try next time I do it.

Yanno, every time I've ever had a legit fire in my apartment my smoke alarm didn't go off. But my cooking, it acts like it's on the ceiling of hell. It's so annoying. I like my bacon crispy smoke detector, geez! I'm not burning the house down.

No clue whatsoever what I want to make for dinner tonight. Today's pay day for Chris. This is the only place I've ever heard of giving paychecks on a Monday, but whatever.

We have some serious shopping to get done before Christmas. He's none to thrilled about it. He hates shopping; he hates it even more when he's worked all day. I'm expecting him to whine the entire time. It's a neccesary evil though. I'm going to try to just get a bit of it done tonight and do the rest tomorrow with whomever will take me out while he's at work.

Tania's almost got her blog of our wedding day ready to share. I'm so excited to see it and the pictures. She shared this gem with me last night:

How freaking adorable are we?

I love my husband.

Not entirely sure what I'm going to do today. Got a bit of stuff done around the house. Should make some phone calls to various places, but I'm not much in the mood for it. I have to meet Chris at five at his job to go deposit his check and commence shopping.

I want to attempt to paint my grandmother's nails for Christmas, but I doubt she'll let me. We shall see.

Tux was busy last night. He put nonsense in my shoes and slippers, moved their water bowl into the middle of the kitchen. Now he's cuddling with Daisy sleeping.

It's chilly in here this morning. I may crawl back under the covers for a bit until it warms up.

Smudge

Yesterday wound up being pretty quiet. My Pop visited for a bit and surprised me with a turkey sammich which was cool.

I got a bit of stuff done around the house, and then went to my grandparents and ate dinner with them and my Mom. They gave me a plate for Chris when he got home from work so that saved me some effort last night. Went out with him to fill the car with gas. One tank usually lasts us two weeks, but we ran extra out with looking at Christmas lights. We watched a bit of TV and crashed as he had to be back at work at seven.

Today was a super lazy day for me. I got a few things done around the house after he went to work, and sat down in the TV room. Forgot the fireplace was running, and fell asleep. Story of my life lately.

At least I get to spend time with Chris today, as he actually works the same shift tomorrow so we'll have more than eight hours before he has to be back at work.

I just made my last coffee. This is a problem. I must restock.

Find Your Center!

After we all ate it was time to get down to business.

I'm pretty sure the absolute hardest part for us is making sure we're centered. When you're right on top of the area, finding the perfect centered spot is much more ambiguous.

Being properly centered makes for some prettyyyy cute pictures though.

Rehearsal Dinner

Today was a super exciting day. We had our wedding rehearsal, which made everything feel really real. We did things a little unconventionally and had our rehearsal the week before the wedding, and boy am I glad we did from the viewpoint of someone who's chronically ill and only has so many spoons in a day. I'm trying my best to enjoy all aspects of our wedding and planning, so I try to plan things according to my energy level. Traditionally the rehearsal and decorating is done the night before the wedding, but I knew both in one night would be too much for me, and it really would have been. Seriously, take my advice and split it up if you can.

It's a decent drive from our house, but I like car rides with Chris. We generally wind up in some type of interesting conversation. Today was about us, and our relationship. I went on about how I partly think we're so successful together because we love each other for who we truly are. We don't try to limit or change one another. Chris announced that he knew we were going to get married before we even started dating, which I think was absolutely sweet/romantic/whatnot.

This is a Stick Up!

Had my final dress fitting today. It's really pretty. I'm hoping Chris likes it.

His Mom came by and dropped off the centerpieces. They're gorgeous!

We ran some errands. Grabbed some clearance Halloween mini-Tootsie Roll pops. Stopped at GameStop to pay off Chris' strategy guide for Fallout 4. Stopped at the liquor store to pick up a bottle of rum for on our honeymoon. Neither of us really drink anymore. I have to be careful because of my liver with all of the medication I'm on. Chris has drank two glasses of wine in over the year we've been together.

When we got home I took a nap for a few hours because I was really tired for some reason.

Disregard

Busy busy day. I got my entire list of phone calls done already thankfully. I have some chores to do yet, but I'm pretty proud of how focused and efficient I was this morning.

Called my insurance company and the girl was all 'Ohh I don't know whyyy they sent you that. Just disregard it!' And I was all yeah, disregard it until they cancel my policy and my shit's fucked up all month. And she's all 'Ohh but they shouldn't your policy is paid for. I don't understand what the problem is.' And I'm all just because they shouldn't doesn't mean they're not going toooo. And she's all 'Noo, it must have crossed in the mail. Oh wait, you paid early, hmm, I don't know. It will be fine.' And I was all ........

Twenty bucks says my policy gets cancelled anyways now, and I'm going to be pissed.

Scheduled and rescheduled a bunch of appointments. Cancelled our Sands reservation because of finances.

I'm most definitely getting sick. I'm rocking a wicked earache and some stuffiness today. Started antibiotics yesterday because I've been rocking a fever off and on so I knew it was coming. Luckily I have some time yet before the wedding to kick it. I hate fevers because I get cold, and then I bury myself in warm things and suddenly the fever relaxes and my MS is ready to have a melt down between the fever and the eight thousand layers of heat I've buried myself in. It's good times.

Not sure what I'm cooking today. Most likely leftovers for lunch. Dull day, but considering all the hectic days ahead some quiet time isn't a bad thing.

Woo Girls

Yesterday turned out to be a fairly lazy day. I got some things done, but at a very slow pace in between a lot of slacking off.

Finished our seating chart for the wedding, and it looks pretty damn professional if I do say so myself. Which, is admittedly pretty unnecessary considering it's for me. It's not like I'm making it for a client, but hey, it's pretty! We have roughly 95 guests coming to our wedding, roughly twenty of them being children.

It's a bit higher of a count than I expected, and it doesn't seem like that many people looking at the list. It is though; I double counted.

Got a letter in the mail from Geisinger today that they're cancelling my insurance as of 9/30 for non-payment, and to call by 10/31 to avoid cancellation.

Turtle Power!

We've only been awake for about four hours so far and today has already been crazy. We stayed up pretty late last night, and I actually slept really good for a change which was nice. We got up at about one, Chris helped me do some chores around the house, and then we had to scurry off to my rheumatology appointment.

I love having Chris with at my appointments. He remembers things that I forget about. Also I have a bad habit of downgrading my symptoms and pain for some reason. While I might tell the doctor that I've been okay, Chris is quick to jump in and say that I've been struggling to wash dishes all week because my hands hurt.

The doctor was actually running pretty on time. He's usually running extremely late, but we never mind because he's one of the few doctors that runs late because he actually spends time with his patients. They really should schedule his appointments differently though, but oh well.

Anne was his nurse today and I haven't seen her in ages. He usually has Ashley, she must be on vacation or something. Anne was excited to hear about the wedding. She checked my vitals, my BP was great, 110/70. My temperature on the other hand was 101 for some reason. Not sure why because I feel fine. Well, no worse than usually that is. Haha.

Griffin came in and we talked about Jefferson and how I was feeling. He agrees with their erythromelalgia and fibromyalgia diagnosis. We played the 'does this hurt?' game. He's keeping me on the Xeljanz, upped my Rasuvo dose to 25mgs. I told him how the longer I was down to 10mgs of steroids the worse I was starting to feel instead of getting better with time. He says I've been on steroids for years so as the dose starts to get lower it's going to be harder and harder. He said I should wait until after the wedding and start doing 15mgs two days in a row, and then 10mgs, and then 15mgs two days in a row, so on and so forth. Then starting the new year start doing every other day switch between 15mgs and 10mgs. I'm determined to get off of this crap, and I'm glad he's supportive of it. Chris brought up what a jerk Kolva was about us getting married, Griffin was like well that's not very nice. He was like I think that just shows just how meant to be you guys are. He gave me some scripts for the next two months so I don't have to worry about stopping in until my next appointment. And some samples to hold me over until he gets some things put through and changed with the specialty pharmacies.

Griffin was amused by my Ninja Turtle Band-Aids I had on.
I love wearing fun Band-Aids. People can be way too serious. Why not make something sucky (a booboo) more positive?

Salmon with Lemon Dill Sauce

Tonight for dinner I'm making us salmon with lemon dill sauce. So far it's been an awesome dish to make.

To make it, take a medium baking pan whether it be throw away aluminum or glass and lightly butter it. Melt 1/4 cup butter or margarine (half a stick) in the microwave. I've found 30 seconds does a good job of it.

Mix 5 tablespoons of lemon juice, a tablespoon of dill weed, 1 and a half minced garlic cloves, a dash of onion powder, and however much sea salt and pepper make your little heart happy into the butter.

Put a pound of salmon (generally four store bought filets) into the baking dish and pour the mixture over it. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes in an oven that's been preheated to 350 degrees. The salmon should flake easily with a fork when it's finished.

Random Acts of Kindness

Once the stiffness wore off I actually got a lot done today. Anyone with RA will tell you that if you stay in one place for too long (like bed) it takes awhile to grease up the joints.

Got all the little trash cans collected, cleaned up Tux's mess (masterpiece), collected the laundry, made two gallons of juice, and straightened the house. Chris took the scrap out and burned it for me, and is going to take out the garbage and recycling.

We watched The Flash for awhile. We really enjoy this show. I suggest it. It makes sense whether or not you watch other Marvel shows, but if you do there's some pieces that'll excite you more. I'm thinking we're going to likely finish the first season today.

The Giants beat the Cowboys yesterday which was fun. Chris is a Cowboys fan; I'm a Giants fan. So, it's always fun here when they play against each other.

I planned our dinner for tonight: Salmon with Lemon Dill Sauce, Rice Pilaf, and a vegetable yet to be determined. Got a pound of salmon out of the freezer to thaw. I'll let you know if it's a rave or a bust.

Chris and I went to the store for my missing ingredient, dill weed. Also to grab a bag of chips and some rice pilaf for a side.

Free Candy

Tux tried to get a shower with me, and he quickly learned that he had made a huge mistake and promptly ran away.

Watched The Flash for a bit and made fish sticks, mushroom rice, and southern style butter beans for dinner. Ran out to the store with Chris. Now he's playing Fallout. We preordered Fallout 4 ages ago and the strategy guide. He's really excited for it to come out, but I told him no playing it until after the wedding and honeymoon. Otherwise, he's going to be completely distracted and that would suck.

It's soon only 21 days (three weeks) until the wedding. I still need to write the hand fasting ceremony. Probably do that tomorrow. I'm certain there's something silly we're going to totally forget about. Unity candle and no lighter, something. Hopefully nothing too serious. Luckily if it is the lighter we forget Chris generally has like six of them in his pockets.

Imaginary Arguments

Today was my neurology appointment. Somehow we overslept and were almost late. Luckily my grandmother called and woke us up at about twenty of ten. My appointment was for ten. I never got dressed so quick. I'm not sure if I turned off the alarm and just don't remember it, or if the batteries are dying on the clock and it never actually beeped.

We got there on time though. My neurologist was running late though as usual. Where his office is positioned it's a decent walk and my ankle was killing me the entire time. Later when I came home I discovered I forgot to take my meds last night before bed. That'll do it. I've been really bad with that lately, especially my blood thinner injections. I need to do better. Chris used to be really good about reminding me which was helpful. I need to set an alarm on my tablet for it or something.

So Much for Early!

After our chestnut experiment we wandered out to get some things done.

Our first stop was CVS to pick up some more prescriptions and Halloween candy. We keep buying Halloween candy with coupons for trick-or-treaters, and it keeps disappearing before Halloween. It's a problem.  It's mainly my grandmother and Chris dunking into it. I'm generally not a big candy person, but I do seem to have a weakness for Kit Kats as of late.

CVS has these giant blended bags of miniature candies for twenty bucks. I just so happened to have five dollars in extra bucks and a three dollar coupon, so I got them for roughly twelve, and it totally filled my candy bowl at home. My grandmother already found her way into it.
